Jean Louis Durand – medicine, art and charity
Dr. Jean Louis Durand, a popular French plastic surgeon, is not indifferent to our project. He made a donation, we thanked him and presented one of the works of the painter Julia Poida.
Dr. Durand loves everything beautiful and, in his opinion, art is remarkable for its longevity. If we compare art and fashion, then we can say that the latter generates a sparkling product, while art is beautiful through the ages.
At the same time, if the objects of fashion have not lost their relevance after years, they become objects of art! Avoid fashion and fashion trends and do not have the habit of confusing fashion and art. That’s what Dr. Durand thinks.
The activity of our organization rests on three pillars: help, medicine, and art. These three pillars are an integral part of the life of French surgeon. We took the opportunity and asked Dr. Durand a couple of questions.
Julia Poida: What is art for you, and what impact can it have on health?
Jean Louis: Art is my whole life. In my youth, I wanted to become an architect. However, the parents were against it. From the family of doctors, I had to continue the tradition and tie my life to medicine. So I chose plastic surgery because this is the only branch of medicine, directly related to the fine arts. And I am motivated by the quest for beauty, expressed through art.
Julia: In your opinion, can charity positively affect well-being?
Jean Louis: According to the proverb, it is always more pleasant to give than to receive. My profession offers very expensive services, for all its relevance. I believe that this amazing profession needs to be combined with a humanistic aspect, for example, thanks to our cooperation. Undoubtedly, charity is an integral part of peace of mind.
